Terms of Service

Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Daylight. You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Let us know right away if you think someone else has accessed it.

Acceptable use

Don't use Daylight for anything illegal, to harm or harass anyone, to attempt to access another person's account or data, or to interfere with or overload the service (scraping, automated abuse, security probing without permission, and similar). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this.

Your content

What you write is yours. We store it encrypted (see the Privacy Policy) and only ever access or process it to operate the service. We don't read your entries otherwise, don't use your writing to train AI models, and don't share it for advertising. You can export your entries or delete your account and its data at any time from Account settings.

AI features

"Generate title" and "Refine" are optional — using them sends the relevant entry text to Google's Gemini API to produce a suggestion, which you can accept, edit, or discard. Suggestions may be inaccurate; you're responsible for what you actually save.

Using the private preview

Daylight is currently in a private, invite-only preview ahead of public launch. That means features may change or break, and access is by personal invite link only — please don't share yours. We'd love your feedback on anything that doesn't work as expected.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to run the product — for AI features, email delivery, and site analytics. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what's shared with each and why.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with notice where practical. Account deletion is immediate, with a 21-day recovery window before data is permanently removed — recoverable by resetting your password for that email during the window. See the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers & liability

Daylight is provided "as is," especially during the private preview, without warranty of any kind — we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available. To the extent permitted by law, Daylight and Knowli aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Changes to these terms

We'll bump the version number and "last updated" date here whenever these terms change, and keep the previous version readable at its own link rather than replacing it silently.

What changed in v2.0: covers accounts, diary entries, AI features, and the private preview — v1.0 only covered joining the waitlist, before any of that existed. View the v1.0 archive.
