Getting started: your first entry

Daylight Team · 2 min read

Daylight is a private place to write — nothing more complicated than that. Here's everything you need to know to write your first entry.

Write your first entry

From your dashboard, click New Entry. The date defaults to today, so all that's left is a title and whatever you want to say — a sentence or several pages, both are fine. There's no format to follow and nothing else required.

There is no Save button

Daylight saves as you type. A small status near the entry tells you Saving… or Saved, so you always know your words are safely kept — just close the tab or walk away whenever you're done.

Not sure what to write about?

The entry form can show you a prompt to react to instead of a blank page — see the writing prompts article for how that works.

Your entries are private

What you write is yours. Every entry is encrypted before it's stored, so nobody but you can read it — not even in the unlikely event of a database breach.

Once the basics feel comfortable
