What is Daylight?

Daylight Team · 2 min read

Daylight is a private online diary. You write a little about your day whenever you want, and over time it is built to help you understand your life better.

It's a simple place to write

Each entry is just a title and a box to write in. You can write one sentence or a few paragraphs — as much or as little as you want. There is no set format and nothing you are forced to fill in. Write whenever you feel like it.

The AI helps you, it doesn't write for you

Once you have written something, Daylight can suggest a title for the entry, using your words and the mood you picked. It can also rewrite your entry to make it clearer — but only when you ask. It shows you the new version first, and you choose whether to keep it or ignore it. Daylight never writes an entry for you. What you write stays in your own words.

Where Daylight is going

Writing every day is only the first step. The goal is for Daylight to help you understand your life better over time — to show you what lifts your mood, what keeps coming up, and how the last few weeks really went, all based on what you wrote. This part is not ready yet. For now, the AI only helps with titles and rewriting, and the mood you pick on each entry is saved so it can be used later.

Your entries are private

Every entry is encrypted before it is saved — turned into unreadable text that only your account can open. Nobody else can read your entries. You can download all of them at any time, and if you delete your account, your entries are removed for good, not just hidden. The data & privacy article explains this in full.

There is nothing to keep up with

Daylight saves your words as you type, so there is no Save button and nothing to lose if you close the tab. Write every day if that suits you, or come back after weeks away — either way is fine.

Getting started: your first entry shows you how to write and save your first entry. It takes about two minutes to read.
